Apple doesn't want you to use your own email account, they would prefer you use one of their services, so they make it super easy to add their own email accounts to an iPhone and a harder to add your own.

Never fear. Here are the instructions you need.

1. Go to Settings on your iPhone

2. Scroll down and tap "Passwords & Accounts"

3. In the "Accounts" section tap "Add Account"

4. Tap "Other" located at the bottom of the list

5. Tap "Add Mail Account"

6. On the next screen add the following information

  • Your name: This is the name you want the emails to appear to come from.
  • Your new "you@yourdomain.com" email address.
  • The password we've sent you. This MUST BE EXACTLY HOW WE SENT IT TO YOU!
  • A description for this account. It can be whatever you want.

If you got all those setting correct after a short time while the phone verifies the account you'll be taken to a new screen with "IMAP" & "POP" at the top.

7. Ensure IMAP is selected

8. Your name, email and description sections at the top should be pre-filled

9. Scroll down to "Incoming Mail Service" and add the following information

  • Hostname: This is in a separate email we sent you with your settings, it will look something like mail.yourdomain.com.
  • Username: Your full email address. NOT JUST THE BIT BEFORE THE @.
  • Password: The password we sent you.

10. Scroll down to the "Outgoing Mail Server" section and type in the exact same information as in No.9 above.

11. Click Next st the top of the screen

Your phone will now take a few moments to verify everything, then eventually you will see a new screen with the option to tap Mail and notes. Ensure Mail is clicked, and click Save.

That's it. Your domain-based email is now added to your phone.

It didn't work!

In some very rare instances, the above won't work, but these instances are rare, VERY rare. Normally, if the above doesn't work it means you've typed in the information incorrectly. So before firing us an email double and treble check you got everything 100% right.

If you're sure you got it right and it's still not working, get in touch and we can arrange a screen-share session where we can set it up for you remote.

PLEASE NOTE: If it turns out you were just typing in the information incorrectly we reserve the right to charge for our time setting up your iPhone.
